How long does it take to get Salesforce certified?

Realistic study time for popular Salesforce certifications, what changes it, and how to plan the weeks before your exam.

The honest answer is that it depends on three things: how much you already know, how many hours a week you can give it, and which certification you are taking. What you can do is estimate it properly instead of guessing.

Start from the material

Here is the size of Arkton’s course material for some popular certifications, and how long that takes at five hours a week with a week of buffer before the exam. These are estimates of the course itself; add time for extra review, and less if you already use the product every day.

What makes it faster or slower

  • Hands-on experience. If you already do the work, much of the material is revision. If it is all new, plan for more time on labs.
  • Consistency. Five hours spread across a week sticks far better than five hours on a Sunday.
  • Practice exams. Leave time for at least two full attempts and the review between them.
  • Life. A busy week at work will happen. The buffer week is there for it.

Turn the estimate into a plan

Pick an exam date, decide which days you can study and for how long, and spread the work across them. Our guide on building a study plan around your exam date walks through it.

How Arkton helps

Arkton’s study plan does this for you: choose certifications and exam dates, tell it when you can study, and it schedules every lesson, lab and practice exam, then shows whether you are on track.
